A part of me is appalled and astonished. Have we reelected a baffoon? Seriously, Obama doesn’t respect the office of the American Presidency enough to forgo being on The View instead of meeting with visiting Heads of States. I cringe for our country and I will, in the future, probably wake in the middle of the night worrying about my children’s future.
Yet, after tossing and turning and praying, I will be reminded that the future of my children was never in the hands of our President anyway. Something else is going on here and the stakes are much bigger.
A man cannot overturn the history of our country in a mere four years unless the God of us all has ordained it to be so. The putrid stench of legalized abortion-on-demand, no-fault divorce laws and legalized marriage for sodomites began long before the Obama presidency.
Those of us who long for the “Happy Days” of the 1950′s when our country was so moral should take a closer look at that time period. By and large many of the sweeping changes of the 1960′s (prayer taken out of school along with the Ten Commandments and the legalization of abortion) came because the Christians in the 1950′s were asleep at the wheel. They simply didn’t think the battle was worth fighting and, thus, abortion was legalized under their noses.
Go back through our history decade by decade and research the church in America. As the church goes, so goes the nation. We are the salt of the earth and we are to permeate and season the world.
It’s hard being salt. Salt stings, purifies and preserves in a caustic way. It has-long term preserving power just as we believers are called to have.
We are in this battle for the long haul. With God’s help we can stand in the gap for our culture and our country. The Lord of the Harvest has allowed many nations to come to ours. The mission field is knocking at our door. The orphans are crying out. The blood of the innocents is staining our land. There is so much work to be done.
Let us take heart from the lives of such people as William Wilberforce who battled his entire life against the evils of slavery and won.
May God raise us up to be courageous, mighty women of God who are willing to do what it takes so that the next generation can praise the Lord in freedom and joy!
“I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:8.9
What are your thoughts??
Jill, your message is so refreshing!
Years ago, when another president of little character was elected, a friend referred me to Psalm 37.
Psalm 37:1-18 NKJV
1 Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret— it only causes harm.9 For evildoers shall be cut off; But those who wait on the Lord, They shall inherit the earth.10 For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more; Indeed, you will look carefully for his place, But it shall be no more. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.12 The wicked plots against the just, And gnashes at him with his teeth.13 The Lord laughs at him, For He sees that his day is coming.14 The wicked have drawn the sword And have bent their bow, To cast down the poor and needy, To slay those who are of upright conduct.15 Their sword shall enter their own heart, And their bows shall be broken.16 A little that a righteous man has Is better than the riches of many wicked.17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, But the Lord upholds the righteous.18 The Lord knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever.
Thank you Ronnie. A very timely scriptural reminder!
Jill
I do think GOD has better things in store: regarding Christians being asleep in the 50s not only they let prayer being taken out of school, they had made a poor showing in the south by not allowing integration to take hold. They had to use the national guard to integrate in the BIBLE BELT! I’m black and i DIDNT VOTE for Obama but knew many black christians who did…people think since im black that i voted for him…(sigh)
